5 Ways How To Inspire People Around You

July 18, 20193 min read

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I will learn”
– Benjamin Franklin

Being able to inspire others is not an overnight or a week’s work. When you want to be a source of positive energy and inspiration for others, you have to work on your behavior, thinking pattern, communication, and presence impact.

Let me ask you something. Did you find any person in life who has inspired you? If yes, think about the characteristics of that person and how that particular person actually inspired you and for what.

People always talk and also often advise each other. But, does everybody behave the way they are told to? Does everybody follow the advice given by their parents, relatives, or friends? Of course, not! So, what is it that enables certain individuals to inspire others? If you are also making your career as an inspirational public speaker, you should be familiar with the tactics and ways of inspiring others.

1. Relationship

In the industry of public speakers, a quote of Theodore Roosevelt is pretty common and quite useful - “nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care”.

So, first of all, you should know how to make relationships better. Since this career will introduce you to new audiences of different backgrounds and regions, you can’t expect to know everyone beforehand. Thus, you need to learn the art that helps you develop a connection with your audience. It could be your body language, facial expression, gestures, words, or the aura you carry with yourself.

2. Influence with Actions

All of us know that actions speak louder than words. So, apply this rule in your life too. When you are on the path of inspiring others, you should leave the ego behind. Just be yourself and let your actions (i.e. your speech) speak. When you are amazing at something, express it through your actions rather than bragging about it all the time.

3. Active listening

Even though you are going to be an inspirational public speaker and you will be doing most of the talking, you still need to listen actively. When someone from the audience or even people around you in real life is sharing something with you, asking questions from you, or simply saying anything, you ought to listen to them carefully. This is one of the ways of letting them know that you care for them.

4. Resilience

People inspired by those individuals automatically who are resilient and emotionally strong. So, focus on building your resilience. When you gracefully handle situations physically, mentally, and emotionally, people find it awe-inspiring. It is true that people love hearing stories but it is only half-truth. The complete truth is that people most love it when these stories are true and based on real-life experiences.

5. Enthusiasm

Inspiring public speakers are enthusiastic and passionate about inspiring the people around them. Reflect your enthusiasm in your actions, speech, and whatever you do. The energy you ooze tends to energize and motivate other people too. So, smile, show positive energy, and caring concern.

And the last tip is to remember a saying by Aristotle:

“To write well, express yourself like the common people, but think like a wise man”.

This goes perfectly for speaking as well.
